Meet the family...
Here is a short introduction to the Bauer-Clan. If you would like to contact any of them directly then just click on their picture.

Norbert
Norbert, (born 53) comes from the city of Nuremberg in Germany. He ran away from home as a teenager and ended up in Sweden, where he became a Christian in 1972. Right away he felt that there was no better purpose in life than to serve God with all his heart. Just a few weeks later he felt God had given him a calling to serve Him in Asia. Little did he know that it would take 16 years for that dream to come true. While studying at a Bible School in the USA (FST), he met Cathy, from New Jersey, and they got married in 1976.

Cathy
Cathy (born 57) was born in Florida and grew up in New Jersey as the 9th of 10 children. Her Dad was of Norwegian descend, and her Mom is mainly German. Her parents always wanted to be missionaries to Africa, but because of their big family, no organization would send them out. Today, all the children are believers, and are serving God in some way. Cathy met Norbert while she was still in high school. Shortly before that she had rededicated her life to Jesus, and was ready to serve Him anywhere. She has not lived in the US since 1976.

Björn
Born in Nuremberg in 1980, Björn grew up in 4 different countries (Germany, Philippines, Cambodia, Malaysia). After graduating from Dalat School in Penang, he immigrated to the US and is currently teaching art in Oklahoma City. With a height of 6"7' (2.02m) he was always a natural choice for playing basket ball, which he enjoyed during high school years. But his true love and talent is in the fine arts where he excelled even as a small boy.
In 2002 Björn got married to Laura, the oldest daughter of Charles and Diana Bello (pastors at the Vineyard, Oklahoma City). Having known them as friends for the past 20 years, we could not be more thrilled to have them as relatives as well!
In December 2004 their first child was born, Ava Noel, and in March 2006 their son Eli. They reside in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Nils
Nils was born in 1982 in Nuremburg, Germany, and has lived in Asia since the age of 6. It is hard to deny his Norwegian Viking roots (from Cathy). He is the musician, the adventurer, the writer and creative mind, and is more like his Dad than he cares to admit. He graduated from Dalat School in Penang, Malaysia. While still living in Thailand he was involved in a movie shoot. He worked as a stand-in for Noah Emmerich in the movie "Beyond Borders" with Angelina Jolie. In 2003 he also immigrated to the US. After moving around a bit he settled down in Davis, California.

Carina
Carina's middle name is Joy, and that is what she brought to our family, when she was born in Lörrach, Germany in 1984. After Faith Academy in Manila came a season of home schooling. Then back to "regular" school at Dalat School in Penang, Malaysia. She graduated high school at Grace International in Thailand. In November 2003, Carina got married to Josh Napier, and is living in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. Carina loves working with children and wants to become a Kindergarten or grade school teacher like her Grandma in New Jersey. Her many gifts and talents will enable her to reach that goal, and whatever else will develop in the future.
She has 2 children, Brandon and Audri.

Lars
Lars was our last child born in Germany in 1986, so he was only 2 years old when we left for Asia He is a lot like his older brother Björn. With a height of 2.02m (6"7') he eventually caught up to him. After home-schooling in the Philippines and Cambodia, he went to Dalat School in Malaysia, and graduated from Grace International in Chiang Mai, Thailand. He is our nature specialist, and knows all about snakes and other reptiles.
Lars is also very artistic and spends much time in playing guitar and recording his creations.
In July 2005 Lars moved to California, and is now living in Davis with 2 of his brothers. He is working at Starbucks and is studying part-time.

Leif
Leif was born 1988 in Antipolo, Philippines, and he has lived his whole life in Southeast-Asia. He also graduated from Grace International School in Chiang Mai. He likes to do what most boys his age like: Computer games, basket ball, and music. He is turning into an accomplished bass player and has won a talent show some years ago. Leif does not quite know what he wants to do with his life yet. He enjoys creative writing and likes to clown around. That makes him popular with other kids, and he has never lacked friends wherever we have lived. He has now joined his brothers in California.

Eja
Eja was born in our bedroom in Phnom Penh, Cambodia in 1993, and like some of her other siblings she has lived in Asia all her life. While in her mother's womb, we received a prophecy that she would be extremely sensitive towards the poor and suffering. That word has proven itself to be true, and many times we have had to shield her from seeing people that are crippled or deformed, because she would talk about for days. Eja is being home-schooled by Mom together with her sister Helena, and the two are very close, constantly playing together. Besides playing with "girlie" things, she has a keen interest in science and mechanics. When she is not out playing, she enjoys watching videos and singing worship songs, and just recently discovered reading novels. She also graduated from Grace International in June 2011, and is taking a gap-year in Thailand.

Helena
Her full name is Helena, but we call her Lena for short. She was born in Penang, Malaysia on Cathy's birthday in 1995. At that time we were still living in Cambodia, but had felt to leave the country for this birth which turned out to be God's way to save her live. Unknown to us, Cathy had some kind of infection in her body which she passed on the baby at birth. Ten days later, Lena almost died of Meningitis. But the doctors at the Adventist Hospital were on the ball and treated her effectively. She could have become blind or otherwise brain-damaged, but she recovered fully, and there is nothing whatsoever wrong with her. With the poor medical service in Cambodia we are not sure if she would have survived if we had stayed there for the delivery.
Lena loves to sing and dance like her older sister, and has a natural gift for acting which became evident when she was still a baby. Like all the other kids she loves animals and helps take care of all the kittens in the neighborhood. She is planning to home school all the way to graduation in 2013.
