Projects...

What are you guys doing all day?
Some people have the funniest ideas about what missionaries do all day. The picture of the guy with the pith helmet, and a huge black Bible under his arm preaching to the poor natives in the jungle, is not quite realistic (though you might still see one on occasion...).

We have done many different things in these past 17 years, but it could all be summed up with these words: training and imparting. We prefer to stand behind local leaders and support them with our gifts.

VCCM (Vineyard Community Chiang Mai)
In the past year there has been a tremendous increase of Vineyard missionaries from all over the globe. Groups of Vineyard churches in the West are forming partnerships for missions in Thailand. They are mobilizing teams and resources for a visible presence here. We sense that God has given us a portion of the spiritual wall around Chiang Mai to work on. We have two arms; one is called “Restoration” and the other one “Church Planting”.
Even though we have begun as an international group from various countries, we do not desire to become another international church in town, but seek to impart and give away all that God has given us to local leaders of His choice.

Just recently we were able to launch a Thai house church in the slums of Chiang Mai.

TRAINING/RENEWAL
For the past 2 years, Norbert has been involved in training the national leaders of a group of over 200 churches in a closed country nearby. Though this project is coming to an end, we are always open to serve churches and church leaders in any way we can.

We love doing renewal work, and are occasionally invited to churches from mainline denominations to teach at conferences, seminars, church camps, etc.

We are pleased to announce that we have resumed our training schools. Check out the link for dtst-asia to find out more..

Chiang Mai is more and more becoming a regional hub for missions and recreation. We would like to develop this for the Vineyard workers in the area, by offering times of refreshing and restoration for them.

CHIANG MAI HOUSE OF PRAYER (CHOP)

All over the world the Lord is calling His people to a whole new level of wholeheartedness that is expressed through a lifestyle of fasting and prayer. Houses of Prayer are springing up all over, and though some believe this to be just another fad, we are convinced it is a true move of God.

Here at the Vineyard Community Chiang Mai, we have always felt a special call to prayer and worship. Chiang Mai is a very strategic city, and has always been a spiritual center for the whole region. For years the church has prayed for revival, and the missionary community has lamented the low conversion rate among the Thai people. If our efforts and projects are going to bear fruit, we need to see a spiritual breakthrough that will usher in the greatest harvest this nation has ever seen.

Just as there is only one Church in the city in the eyes of God, there is only one House Of Prayer. By launching CHOP we want to be an inspiration, as well as create a model for other churches to follow, until the whole city is covered by a network of prayer cells that burn like fires that light up the darkness.

MERCY MINISTRIES
Someone once said: "A church that does not serve the poor is not His church!" We want to help facilitate and promote programs and projects that will serve the poor and oppressed in our area. We helped launch a project teaching children in the slums which is run by our Thai co-workers. Some of the Vineyard family here have a vision for orphanages, others for development work with the hill tribes, and one family has opened a restaurant to reach out to their community. We want to see more of that, and want to do all we can to support these projects.
